Intro To Cave Course

Divers who have already achieved the level of Cavern Diver and are looking to move forward with their cave diving certifications this is the next step. This course can be combined with the cavern diver course to make a great four days of diving and a great learning experience. This level of training allows you a greater penetration into the caves than the Cavern Diver course under safe diving guidelines. Skills learned during this advanced course will allow divers to safely enter cave zones after they have mastered the exercises required for this level. The safe diving practices learned during this course will apply to all applications of diving including open water recreational diving. Once you have finished this part of your cave diver training we are sure that you will be back to complete the full cave course.

Prerequisites-18 years of age with a Cavern Diver certification issued by a recognized cave diving training agency.

Course Description: This course is outlined as a 2 1/2 day course with four cave dives in two different caves. The theory portion of the course includes the lectures from the Cavern Diver course if the intro to cave course is not in conjunction with the cavern course. The limitations for the Intro to Cave Diver are a penetration into the cave of about 600-800 feet from the cave entrance, no restrictions, maximum depth of 100 feet, all dives planned as no decompression dives , double tanks if the student expresses the wish to continue on with the Full Cave Diver course, and a minimum starting visibility of 30 feet. The skills practiced are conducted during the exit phase of every dive and include but are not limited to back up light/air sharing exit, simulated zero visibility/touch contact exit, Air sharing/no mask/simulated zero visibility/touch contact exit and a simulated lost line drill where the student has to find a lost guide line.

Maximum course size: Maximum number of students per instructor is three.

After completion of this course divers will be issued a certification card as well as being qualified to plan and safely execute cave dives to the limit of training.

The next step in advanced diver training is the Apprentice and Full Cave Diver Levels

Apprentice to Cave Diver

Apprentice to Cave Diver is a step along the way to become a full cave diver. This level is a temporary level which divers use to gain experience while they are in the process of finishing their full cave diver certification. Here you will be allowed to dive on double tanks, plan slightly more complex dive plans, and enjoy a bit more of the caves that you will explore more as a full cave diver.

Full Cave Diver Course

This is the ultimate goal for most divers searching out cave training, in our opinion this is a great level to achieve to start your future in learning about the cave environment and to practice you skills learned during your series of cave courses. Upon certification to this level you will have mastered the skills required to dive in this unique overhead environment. This course is not to be taken lightly and your accomplishment of reaching this level is rewarding in itself. From this point on you are certified and qualified to practice, dive, and enjoy the underwater world of penetration cave diving. Here along the Riviera Maya in Southern Mexico you will find many of the largest and greatest cave dives in the world, some of which you will dive during your course, others we will be here and ready to show you later.

Prerequisites- 18 years of age and an Apprentice Cave Diver certification issued by a recognized cave diving training agency.

Course Description: This course (this level alone) is outlined as two day course with four cave dives in two different caves. The theory and practice sessions of this course is based on complex dive planning. The limits for this level are 1/3 penetration air of double tanks, no gear removal in the cave and maximum depth 130 feet.

NOTE: The full cave diver course can be taken as a single intensive seven day long course with a minimum of 16 dives or it can be done in pieces. Either way the course requirements are the same and the education is equal.

Maximum course size: Maximum number of students per instructor is three.

After completion and certification of this course divers will be issued a certification card as well as being qualified to plan and safely execute cave dives to the limit of training

Technical Cave Diver Course

Take a Full Cave Diver Course a bit further, add some Nitrox and then some oxygen for decompression stops and you end up with the start of a Technical Cave Diver Program. The entire purpose of this program is to train competent divers safe cave diving and the technical utilization of EANx for cave exploration, and the use of both Nitrox and oxygen for decompression following cave dives. You will learn applications of diving that will benefit both your cave and open water diving. Here along the Riviera Maya coast of Mexico we have plenty of cave systems that have Nitrox written all over them. Shorter no-decompression limits for the Nitrox dives and more efficient decompression when using the higher O2 mixes during your decompression stops. This course will take you through the many applications of Nitrox and Oxygen and all of the mixes in between
